About Myself

I live and paint in Peterborough, New Hampshire where my husband Jim and I have lived since 1997. Living in Peterborough and summering in northern lower Michigan provides an incredible contrast to growing up in Detroit, Michigan. I have lots of opportunities to observe and interpret things of beauty.

I recently retired from teaching science to middle schoolers where I continually employed all the colored chalk I could get my hands on to create diagrams that might help students understand the content. I used art to communicate (my master’s thesis was all about this blend). I used chalk as a clarifying tool.

I still do. A few years prior to retirement, I was drawn to soft pastels. I began studying in small studio classes and soon became obsessed with the depth of color when applying these pigment-dense chalks.

My studio provides me a happy space to paint daily, using photos of my own. I also enjoy painting Plein Air. Since retirement, I have made countless new best-friends, my pastels!
